Thereare two compact petrol engines: an 89bhp 1.2-litre or 98bhp 1.4. Both are mated to a manual box as standard, although Honda’s iShift automated manual is an option on the higher-output model.
Thoughtson 2.4 liter I-VTEC 4 Cyl. What are you’re thoughts on this engine as far as speed/ gas mileage, and overall thoughts on the engine itself. Archived post. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. There are many variations of that engine, it was used for over 15 years.
18 i-VTEC throttle delay (1st gear) I recently picked up an 08 Type S GT with the 1.8 engine and 75k miles. I have a question about the throttle response in 1st when pulling away - for example at traffic lights and roundabouts. My previous cars were 1.1 and 2.0 engines, both manual and naturally aspirated.
TheCivic's 1.4-litre petrol engine is a little out of its depth in the Civic, developing 99bhp and 93-lb-ft of torque. This makes for a leisurely 0-62mph time of 13.4 seconds and a top speed of 116mph. The Civic disappoints when the road gets twisty thanks to vague, lifeless steering. It's also very firm on anything but the smoothest roads.
