This is because every time you age up, two more Great Buildings are added to the pool of possible random BPs. Also, Bronze Age cities typically have Bronze Age neighboring cities with maybe a few Iron Age cities in the mix. An Iron Age city's neighbors will range from Bronze through to Early Middle Ages, as neighbors shift as one goes up in ages.
Bronze/iron age fast units are sub par at best and should not even be considered to use for defense. Early/high middle ages are decent and you may decide to use them. Late middle ages/colonial age are on par with heavy/light units and should be considered to be used but sparingly. This will make a difference on deciding to use them or not.
Bronze age units are easily strong enough to defeat iron age units if used well and correctly. Look into which units have bonuses/penalties against each-other, unit type bonuses depending on terrain, and practice using ranged units in a matter where they take out opposition and not get reached on enemy turns.

Even though his attack is over 200 he can essentially negotiate endlessly at any attrition because he’s able to produce so many goods, and at/around 200 your fighting cut off is probably around 25 or so, opposed to being able to negotiate at 50+. Other than negotiating in GBG I can’t think of any other good reason to stockpile Bronze Age goods.
Jul 21, 2017. #1. I've played a few worlds now and keep getting stuck at the "acquire Paruuch" storyline quest from Ragu Silverstone. Up until this point 8 spear fighters seem to win every battle. However once I hit Paruuch my spear fighters all keep getting absolutely spanked and wiped out.

DeletedUser653. Feb 19, 2020. #14. Best defence is to put up a decent force so player can collect points and hopefully decline to plunder, but if they plunder then attack and plunder them daily for a week or two while collecting on time and then offer to stop if they agree a no plunder rule.
